About OpenThread QR Codes

This tool allows you to generate QR codes from OpenThread network credentials. These QR codes can be scanned by compatible devices to quickly join Thread networks.

The generated OpenThread string and QR code use the following format:
PAN_ID_HEX;CHANNEL;NETWORK_NAME;EXT_PAN_ID;COMMISSIONING_CREDENTIAL;

Parameters:

• PAN ID (Hex): Personal Area Network ID. Input as decimal (e.g., 65530) or hex (e.g., fffa, 0xfffa). It will be converted to a 4-digit lowercase hexadecimal value in the string.
• Channel: The RF channel used by your Thread network (typically 11-26).
• Network Name: The name of your Thread network.
• Extended PAN ID: Extended Personal Area Network ID (8-byte hexadecimal string, e.g., 94d1909a844acb49).
• Commissioning Credential: Password for joining the network (e.g., AirshipsCubes634).

The "Thread Network Key" field is separate and not included in this specific QR code string format, but can be used for other commissioning methods.
